Pasta has a long and interesting history. Everyone know the story of Marco Polo bringing noodles back from his travels in 1292 AD from China. However first record history of noodles where in Aramaic in Jerusalem, 5th century AD. Some of the first records of wheat farming goes back some 10,000 years in the Jordan valley and it is assumed that some form of pasta was consumed.
When people think pasta they usually think Tomato sauce. Tomatoes however are not indigenous to Europe, they were brought over from the New World by the Spanish and spread quickly throughout Europe. By the end of the 1800's tomatoes became common in Italian cooking and the rest, as they say, is history!
